Sun Protection

Whatever your summer plans include, protecting your skin from the sun is the key to retaining your youthful radiance. Whether you will take a beach holiday, enjoy an outdoor concert, or simply choose to relax on a blanket in your back yard, use a broad spectrum sunscreen repeatedly to guard against premature aging of your skin.

Prolonged exposure to damaging UVA/UVB rays are a leading cause of skin cancer. UVB is responsible for sunburns and UVA can take credit for most of the visible aging of your skin. Those with fair skin and light hair will burn more easily and are at greater risk for skin cancer. No matter your skin type, though, limiting exposure and staying covered up is essential. Try to use hats, umbrellas, and clothing to cover up during the hottest hours of the day and seek out shade. Although the sun’s rays feel good, they will cause sun spots, wrinkles, and premature aging- enjoy only limited exposure to preserve your skin!
