4 Areas on the Body to use Body Contouring

Posted November 28th, 2011 in Dermatology News

Body contouring methods can literally reshape the body, removing excessive fat and toning sagging skin. One of the most promising fat reduction techniques involves freezing fat cells. Since fat cells are more sensitive to cold than other skin cells, applying cold can cause the fat to dissolve, while leaving other skin tissue unharmed. The procedure, developed by Harvard Scientists, is available at many dermatologists and plastic surgeons under the name CoolSculpting by Zeltiq. These four areas of the body are often targeted for body contouring.

Abdomen

Freezing cells works best on pockets or rolls of fat. That makes it ideal for reducing small beer bellies or love handles. It’s important to realize that the procedure is not meant as a form of weight loss. Coolsculpting by Zeltiq is meant for people close to their ideal weight, not for the obese.

Waist/Buttocks

The procedure can target muffin tops and embarrassing rolls or bumps of fat. Body contouring can selectively target fatty areas, leaving the surrounding skin untouched. Note that CoolSculpting by Zeltiq is not designed to remove cellulite, which involves a different kind of fat cell.

Thighs/Groin

CoolSculpting by Zeltiq can be effective at targeting rolls of fat on the thighs. Body contouring specialists define the inner and outer thighs as separate areas, so be sure you are clear on which area will be targeted and what results can be expected.

Arms/Chest

Coolsculpting by Zeltiq can be used to reduce flabby pockets under the arms, and also to minimize male breasts. The method is not a form of breast reduction for women, but it can reduce small deposits of fat on and around the breasts.

Doctors say people of normal weight are most likely to benefit from this fat reduction method. People with large pockets of fat throughout their body will gain more from diet and exercise. People with liver problems may want to talk to a doctor before undergoing the process, because the liver plays an important role in disposing of fat cells. For people who just have a few pockets of fat that they can’t get rid of, however, CoolSculpting by Zeltiq holds the promise of a flatter — not fatter — future. Make an appointment today and see if body contouring is the right choice for you.
