The Least Invasive Skin Rejuvenation Treatment
After years of exposure to the sun, even Seattle residents find that their skin might appear less than perfect. In fact, very few of us have completely even skin tones with zero sign of damage from the elements or acne. Still, you want youthful, beautiful and flawless skin. You know it’s possible, but you’re not sure if topical treatments are effective and you don’t want to undergo the risks of an invasive procedure. Is there a balance between the two? Is there something that’s both effective but not extreme? The answer is yes. Photo facials combine the best of both worlds by combining the least-invasive procedure possible with ample effectiveness to rejuvenate and even out skin tones, leaving you with the healthy, youthful skin you’ve always wanted to maintain.
How Photo Facials Work
Photo facials, also known as photo-rejuvenation or BBL laser treatments, use light to mend the damage caused by the sun and aging. It’s a process that was invented and patented by Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr., a respected California dermatologist and graduate of Stanford University Medical School. At Island Dermatology we use the Sciton brand of Bitter’s device, which infuses the skin with intense pulsed light (IPL), and then heats the inside layer of skin tissue called the dermis. At the same time, it cools the epidermis, which is the outside layer, or what we commonly refer to as skin. This process reduces the appearance of the small capillaries under the skin that cause age spots and uneven tone, giving you that youthful appearance you long for when preparing for a night out in Seattle. As an added benefit, photo facials can even treat some rosacea and discolored scars.
The Next Step
You should keep in mind that photo facials, though they do tighten the skin to a degree, are not intended for the treatment of wrinkles.
