Hours of Operation
We are open Monday through Friday and for your convenience offer both early morning and late evening appointments depending on the day. Please call our office for more details. Our main number is 203-232-7546. In the event of an emergency outside of our normal business hours we utilize an answering service who will contact the physician on call for you.
We will call you 48 hours in advance to remind you of your appointment. We realize that sometimes you may not be able to keep your appointment and in those instances we do request that you extend us the courtesy of a 48 hour notice. This will allow us to use the time reserved for you to help other patients in need. Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment to allow time for registration and screening. If are late for your appointment you may have to be rescheduled. Cosmetic and self-paying appointments longer than 30 minutes require a $200 deposit which gets applied to your service. Failure to provider 48 hours’ notice or a no-show will result in a forfeit of your deposit.
For the benefit of our patients we accept almost all insurances. Some insurances require a referral to be seen at our office, please double check when you are scheduling with our front office staff so you have time to obtain a referral before your scheduled appointment. You may want to check with your company to verify if our provider is on their list. As part of our contract with insurance companies we are legally required to collect co-pays from you at the time of service. We ask that you be prepared to pay your co-pay at the time of the visit. We will accept cash, check, or credit card.
Island Dermatology offers a self-paying option for those patients who do not have insurance. You will be asked to complete all patient paperwork and provide identification. You must be prepared to pay all self-pay fees the day of your appointment.
Tests or blood work
You will receive prompt notification of any results that are abnormal or require immediate attention, otherwise we will notify you as soon as possible. If you have any concerns after tests or biopsies have been done and we have not contacted you, please call us immediately. Lab tests performed by Lab Corp will be billed separately and they are your responsibility. Pathology tests performed by Dermatopathology Northwest are also billed separately and are patient responsibility.
Refills will be performed only during normal office hours and will require a 24 to 48 hour turnaround time. Please check with the pharmacy within 24 to 48 hours. When you call please have the following information ready: name, date of birth, prescription name and number; pharmacy name and telephone number. We will only call you back if there is a problem filling your prescription. If you have not seen your doctor within the recommended time for follow up, you will need an appointment before refills can be authorized.
Please allow 5-7 working days for completion of forms or letters. There will be a charge for copying medical records and proper identification will be required. Your medical records are strictly confidential.
