Botox & Dysport

Botox™ Cosmetic Injections

Botox is one of the most common methods used to temporarily eliminate wrinkles between the eyebrows and on the forehead, crow’s feet near the eyelids and lines around the mouth. Approved by the FDA, Botox cosmetic injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain facial muscles, which causes fine lines and wrinkles to disappear. Botox treatments are required every three to four months to maintain desired results. Side effects of Botox treatments include short-lived pain in the affected area, head or stomach pain, and temporary inappropriate facial expressions such as drooping eyelid, uneven smile or the inability to close the eyes.

Highly knowledgeable in the area of anti-aging, the dermatology professionals at Island Dermatology utilize Botox and Dysport as one of our primary treatment methods to remove unwanted wrinkles and give our clients the youthful appearance that they desire.

Dysport is a Botulinumtoxin product similar to Botox that is injected into frown lines to temporarily inhibit the contraction of the muscles that cause the unwanted wrinkles. It is recommended for patients 65 years of age or younger and gives a softer, more refreshed appearance to the face and lasts 3-6 months.

Treatment generally takes just 10 to 20 minutes, although treatment times can vary from person to person. The most common side effects of Dysport treatment are nose and throat irritation, headache, injection site pain, eyelid swelling, sinus inflammation and nausea. You should wait at least 90 days between Dysport treatments.
