At Island Dermatology, we are constantly exploring skin care techniques and innovations that will help our patients feel better about themselves – inside and out. Here are a few of the safe, proven treatments we offer:

DioLite™ 532 Laser Treatment is used to remove vascular or benign pigmented blemishes. The laser emits an intense beam of laser light, which is selectively absorbed to eliminate or reduce the appearance of abnormal vessels and blemishes.

Fotofacial-RF Treatment is used to treat unwanted skin blemishes, fine wrinkles, and textural irregularities. During treatments, intense pulses of light and electrical radio frequency penetrate the supporting structure of the skin, stimulating collagen production and selectively destroying sun-damaged discoloration of pigmentation abnormalities and vascular blemishes like spider veins and rosacea.

Lightsheer™ Laser Hair Reduction is used to reduce unwanted hair on the face and body. These FDA-approved treatments employ a pulse of laser light to heat up the hair and limit the follicle’s ability to regrow. Unlike electrolysis, laser hair reduction allows numerous follicles to be treated simultaneously, making treatment faster and more comfortable.

Restylane is filler used to treat facial wrinkles and folds, enhance facial features, and correct certain types of scars. It is a safe, non-allergenic, clear gel based on hyaluronic acid—a natural substance present in the body. The treatment is long-lasting, usually six months or longer, and it eventually breaks down and disappears unnoticed from the body.

Sculptra is filler used to correct depressions in the skin by increasing the fullness and thickness of the skin. It is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of the skin depression or fat loss. Results vary for each person, but are typically visible for two years.

Sclerotherapy is a popular method of eliminating varicose veins and superficial spider veins (telangiectasias). During treatment, a solution called a sclerosing agent, is injected with a very thin needle into the tiny veins. The vein then visually disappears. On average, those who choose this therapy need three to four treatments to achieve desired results.

Botox (Botulinum A Toxin) is used in the cosmetic treatment for reduction of the wrinkles between the eyebrows and on the forehead, and around the crow’s feet of the eyelids. Approved by the FDA for several uses, Botox injections work by temporarily paralyzing the small muscles that cause wrinkles.

Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy is a treatment of narrow-band blue light directed to the skin. It is used either with or without aminolevulinic acid, a substance that is activated by the blue light. Blue Light Photodynamic Therapy used to treat acne in teenagers and adults. It is also used to treat actinic keratoses (pre-cancers) of the skin.

Acne Surgery is a procedure, which removes some acne blemishes (comedones) from the face, chest, or back. The procedure is performed skillfully and carefully with minimum discomfort in the comfortable setting of our aesthetician suite. It is combined with steam and soothing skin care products.

Acne Surgery Narrow Band Ultraviolet Light Treatment (NB/UVB) is a phototherapy treatment for several different skin diseases, including but not limited to psoriasis, vitiligo, eczema, and pityriasis rosea. It is often very successful in causing a remission of the skin disease and offers an alternative to oral and topical medications.

Microdermabrasion is a treatment that helps to improve skin texture, treat acne blemishes (comedones) and remove excess skin oil. At Island Dermatology, Microdermabrasion is incorporated into a soothing facial. It involves propelling sterile crystals at the skin while applying vacuum suction to remove these particles along with some skin cells. It is a minor resurfacing modality that is comfortable and does not involve any recuperation time or side effects.

Chemical Peels are treatments used to treat the sun-damaged and aging face. A solution is applied to the skin, which removes the superficial layer of stratum corneum (top layer of skin) and yields a skin that is more evenly pigmented and smoother in texture. Chemical peels of the skin can be superficial, medium or deep-depth peels. At Island Dermatology, we perform superficial chemical peels involving observable results with no down time.
